PLNs (Personal Network)

The second step in this year long journey was to create a Technology PLN. I have been following several Math blogs for middle school and for 6th grade. So I have included some of them. I searched for Technology in Math and found a few blogs to add to my PLN, that looked interesting and will start following. I also found a site (http://davidwees.com/content/mathematics-education-blogs) it would not let me add to my list, but it is a very extensive list, that will take some time to look at so I can narrow my list down. There is a lot of information out there. I find that it is overwhelming sometime.

  1. You are correct, there is a lot of stuff out there--some great and some not so good. As you work through this process of developing your PLN, you will find you prefer some over others and your list will begin to narrow down. But it is and should be ever-changing. Newbies will emerge in your field and you will find yourself adding them to your PLN. I went to David Wees blog and I see why you like him. If you click on the Contact tab, you will see opportunities for following him. Good luck!

  2. I think you are right to start within your comfort zone and find resources for your PLN that are related to your content area. As you start to expand your PLN, try to find contacts that are experts on other aspects of teaching such as pedagogy, special education, or even legal rights/responsibilities of educators. Sounds like you have a great start though!
